Every figure on this page is computed from the inputs you enter, by the method stated below it. MowRouteWorks publishes no market rates, no machine rates and no survey: the defaults are a worked example to replace with your own.

A lawn care estimate app has one job the field service suites forget: a lawn is priced from its size and your machine, not from a parts list. The crew needs the square feet, the rate the mower actually covers, the minutes the trim takes, what an hour of the crew has to earn, and the stop charge that pays for the drive, and out of those comes a price per cut the customer can be told on the doorstep. This guide is about what that app has to do, and the free lawn care estimate on this site does the arithmetic with no account.

Square feet over the machine's rate is the mowing time

The lot size divided by what your mower covers in an hour is the mowing time, and it is your machine's rate on your lawns, measured over a week of cuts, not a figure from a brochure. A 48-inch deck on open turf and a 21-inch push mower around beds are different numbers, and the estimate is only as honest as that one input. The tool asks for it and publishes nothing.

The trim on top, the crew rate, the stop charge

Trim, edge and blow take minutes the mower does not, so they go on as time; the stop at your crew rate is the labor, and the crew rate is what an hour of the crew and the machine has to earn with overhead and profit in. The stop charge on its own line pays for the drive and the unload, the same whether the lawn is small or large, and it is why a tiny lawn cannot be cheap.

Per cut first, then the season, then the customer record

The estimate is per cut because that is what the customer compares, and the season is the per-cut figure times the cuts, because that is what the route is worth. Then the estimate files against the customer and the lawn, so the invoice in June starts from the number that was agreed in March.

Lawn care estimate app: common questions

What should a lawn care estimate app include?

The lawn's square feet, your mower's rate, the trim minutes, your crew rate, a stop charge, and the cuts in the season, giving a price per cut and a season figure; a pricing chart for quoting from lot size alone; an invoice with the balance due; and customers and lawns so every estimate files against the stop it came from. GPS routing and lead marketplaces are for a different buyer.

Is there a free lawn care estimate app?

The tools on this site are free and need no account: the estimate, the pricing chart and the invoice each price the lawn on the page from your own rates and print as they stand. MowRouteWorks Pro adds your business name and logo, a PDF with no watermark, and saving every lawn against the customer.

How do I estimate a lawn I have not seen?

From the square feet, which a county parcel map or a satellite measurement gives you before you drive out, and your own machine's rate, which you know. Enter both, add the trim minutes for the beds and fences you can see, and the tool gives a per-cut figure to quote on the phone; walk the lawn before the first cut and correct the trim.

On the worked example, 8,000 square feet on a machine that covers 30,000 square feet an hour is 16 minutes of mowing and a 31-minute stop with the trim, which at a $45 crew rate plus a $15 stop charge is a $38.25 estimate per cut and $994.50 for a 26-cut season.
