Lawn care invoice software has to do one thing well: turn a month of cuts into an invoice the customer pays without a phone call. Cuts this period at the price per cut, the extras on their own line, any discount, sales tax where the state charges it on lawn services, what was already paid taken off, and one balance due at the bottom. It also has to keep the invoice against the customer and the lawn, because the question in July is about the invoice from April. This guide is about what that software has to carry, and the free lawn care invoice template on this site raises one with no account.

Cuts times the price per cut, so the customer can count them
The mowing line is the number of cuts this period at the agreed price per cut, and both numbers are on the invoice, because the line every customer argues with is the one they cannot check against their own calendar. Software that bills a flat monthly figure hides the fifth cut in a long month and invites the call.
Extras on their own line, tax only where the state says
Fertilizing, aeration and a cleanup are not mowing and go on their own line at their own price. Many states do not tax mowing and some tax lawn services in full, so the software should take a tax rate you set and apply it to the subtotal after any discount, with zero as the default and your state as the authority.
What was paid comes off last, and the balance ends the page
An invoice that shows a total and mentions a prepayment somewhere above gets paid in the wrong amount. What was already paid is the last deduction and the balance due is the last line, because the last number on the page is the one the customer pays. The paid plan keeps the invoice against the customer and the lawn.
Lawn care invoice software: common questions
What should a lawn care invoice include?
Your business name and license number where your state issues one for applications, the customer and the property, the billing period, the cuts at the price per cut, the extras, any discount, sales tax where it applies, what was already paid and the balance due, with your payment terms under it. The template on this site carries every figure; the paid plan adds the name, logo and license.
Is there a free lawn care invoice template?
Yes. The lawn care invoice template on this site is free and needs no account: cuts, price per cut, extras, discount, tax and what was paid in, the balance due out, printed as it stands. MowRouteWorks Pro adds your business name and logo, a PDF without our line, and saving it against the customer.
Do I charge sales tax on mowing?
It depends on the state: many do not tax mowing, some tax landscaping services in full, and some tax the extras and not the cut. The template applies the rate you enter to the subtotal, with zero as the default, and your state's rule is the one that decides.
